Welcome to the beginning of The Aqua & Coral Report.
What this site will make an effort to be is a few things:
First, it will be transparent. We are not truly reporting. This site will be run primarily from Central Florida, 3+ hours away from the Miami Dolphins facility. True reports will be few and far between.
The word Review could have been used and will be a more apt description, as it will be challenging to accurately break news and be a part of the news process from here. So there’s that.
Second, and kind of the reason for making this site, is it will not be utilizing the opinions of others or that of scouting sites or other sites. All work will be done with our own knowledge — or lack thereof — but the insight will come from a few sources. We will watch the film and we will make our own evaluations. Some will hit and some will miss, but we will work to provide different insight. If there are opinions of anyone outside of this site, they will be in quotations.
Third, and last for now — The Aqua & Coral Report will seek to provide a viewpoint that comes from experience. A fan experience (which you won’t find this site belittling) since the mid-70s thanks to my Miami-native grandparents which includes going to training camp at St. Thomas when I was four and seeing all the legends from behind a chain-link fence.
My experience also includes over 20 years working in college football and a lifetime around sports as my father was high school legend, then coach and owned a sporting goods store in our small town. I was fortunate enough in my time in CFB to have had “ball” chats with the likes of Ted Tollner, offensive mastermind Ralph Friedgen, Bill O’Brien and Mike Locksley to name a few. I also had the good fortune of working with players such as Brian Urlacher, Kyle Turley, Kris Jenkins, Domonique Foxworth, E.J. Henderson, Vernon Davis, former Dolphins DT Randy Starks, Edgerrin James and others.
I didn’t learn just from osmosis — I actively took it all in.
The name of the site itself pays homage to the official colors once claimed by the Miami Dolphins, colors it should honor and return to, just like their traditional logo and uniforms. Profile picture below was taken at Biscayne Bay’s Crandon Park Marina, my grandfather’s slip, 1973.
Hopefully you enjoy the perspective.
